Ice is Bad for Sore Muscles

As acupuncturists we learn that icing sore muscles or strains is counterproductive to the healing process.  Ice constricts tissue and reduces the flow of blood through muscle tissue, interfering both with provision of oxygen and nutrients and removal of lactic acid and wastes.  As Tuina master Tom Bisio says, “Ice is for dead people”.
